The Bay Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) is a non-profit, professional organization made up of the Coos Bay, North Bend and Charleston business communities (Oregon’s Bay Area). Together we work to create a strong business voice, promote business and improve the economy of the Bay Area. Businesses in the Bay Area increasingly endorse the Chamber of Commerce and we continue to be recognized as a vital link between the Cities, State and regional parties of leadership, and act as the promoting entity for community spirit within the Bay Area.
Founded in 1980, the BACC was created from a merger of the Coos Bay and North Bend Chambers. With over 600 members, the Chamber’s strength lies in the number and diversity of its membership. The acitivites of the BACC vary in respsonse to the needs of the business community. Much of the Chamber’s work is accomplished through the volunteered time and efforts of its members, primarily through committees, providing commuity leadership in the areas of economic development, government affairs, leadership development, natural resources, tourism and transportation.
WHAT DOES A CHAMBER DO…
A Chamber of Commerce is a form of business network. Business owners in towns and cities form these local societies to advocate on behalf of the business community. The Chamber works for a healthy economic climate of good jobs, more customers and efficient government. Generally, a Chamber of Commerce serves the following purposes:
Creating a strong local economy
Promoting the community
Providing networking opportunities
Speaking with government on behalf of business
Political action, such as getting pro-business candidates elected to office
Remember, what you put into the Chamber is what you’ll get out of the Chamber. Those who become active will benefit the most.
