Wednesday Business Connection (WBC) Luncheon May 16th, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, will feature Mark Johnson ,Distirct Manager, Coos Bay District Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The BLM manages some 325,000 acres of timberland, in Southwestern Oregon out of its Coos Bay District office. Mark's presentation is entitled "The Bureau of Land Management--Past, Present & Future ". The Bay Area Chamber of Commerce's 2012 New Business Challenge Grant was awarded recently. This is the third award by the Chamber since the program began in 2009. . The grant is designed to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit in our Bay Area. Four applications were received for the New Business Challenge grant this year, which amounted to over $18,000 of cash and services. After an extensive indepth review by the committee , Joey Harper of Joey's Arcade and Soda Bar was selected our 2012 New Business Challenge Winner. Congratulations Joey! Stop and visit the Arcade at 158 Central Avenue in Coos Bay. For all you new businesses keep an eye out for the 2013 New Business Challenge competition, coming up this fall.
